Bish Bash Open Pairs

Bish Bash Open Pairs

We recently held a new early-season Open Pairs competition, designed to get people out on the green enjoying something a little different. Players were invited to choose their own teams and come up with a team name for a bit of fun—although not everyone remembered to send one in, which gave me the chance to get a bit creative with a few of them!

Some of the standout team names included Young Guns (Will & George), Older Guns (Kevin & Richard Edwards), The Master Craftsmen (Richard Reynolds & Matt Larmen), and Olaf & Elsa (Alan & Inger), all of which added to the great atmosphere.

Week 1 saw a fantastic response, with all 12 team spots filled in less than three hours after the WhatsApp post went out. The format consisted of three games of two sets, with a joker card played in one designated game. This week’s joker doubled the points for each end won—and it proved decisive, with the eventual winners claiming 8 out of 10 ends in that game and picking up an extra 8 points.

Week 1 Winners:

The Older Guns – Kevin Clarke & Richard Edwards

Week 2 welcomed 9 new teams alongside 3 returning pairs. Once again, the weather was warm and sunny, and with a slight tweak to the format, the morning ran smoothly. It was also great to see such a positive atmosphere, with plenty of members coming down to support and watch.

Week 2 Winners:

You’re Having a Laugh – Jake & Paul Short

A big thank you to everyone who took part and helped make these events such a success for the club. We’re hoping to run another one or two later in the season—so keep an eye out!

Thanks,

Bish Bash
