Corby Trophy

Our last trophy day of the season was marked by a fantastic turnout on a wonderfully warm, late summer’s afternoon as 42 members competed for the Corby Trophy. With blue skies and sunshine setting the perfect backdrop, the atmosphere was buzzing with good-natured rivalry, fun and expressions of much disbelief as ‘the lines’ did not run as usual! (we realigned the marks to fit in 7 rinks).

The Corby Trophy is an individual competition where players rotate across three sets of six ends of triples - ensuring that no-one plays with or against the same person more than once, nor on the same rink twice….. a mathematical nightmare!  This unique format always brings a mix of great challenge and surprise, and this year was no exception.

After a competitive afternoon Steve Scaffardi emerged victorious with an impressive final score of +18, claiming the Corby Trophy for this season.

Congratulations to Steve on his win.

As always the traditional Spider provided plenty of luck and fun. This time our luckiest bowlers were Amelia Rose - our youngest member and a repeat winner - and Ian Crook, who both claimed victory with smiles on their faces!

Following the competition members enjoyed a meal of ham and egg salad with new potatoes, perfectly suited to the summer weather. The day continued into the evening, with many of the members who ate staying on to socialise and relax, surrounded by friendly chatter, laughter, and strong camaraderie - the very essence of what our club is all about.

A big thank you to all who took part, helped organise, and made the day such a success. Here’s to more great memories on and off the green!
